Using The Internet For Information On Yorkshire Terrier Grooming

Yorkies are wonderful dogs, but if you want them to look and feel their very best, then Yorkshire Terrier grooming is going to be an important part of their life. Grooming needs to be performed regularly on these dogs, primarily because of the length of their fur and how low they are to the ground. Their small stature results in them getting dirty more quickly than other breeds of dog.

Yorkshire Terrier grooming, along with exercise and temperament, are all characteristics that any prospective dog owner must take into consideration before buying a dog. Proper grooming has much more impact than on just the physical look of our dog, as keeping your dog looking great is going to keep their confidence up and make them more sociable as well. Regular grooming can also amount to preventive medicine by alerting you to skin diseases and ticks, for instance.
Bathing is a very important part of Yorkshire Terrier grooming. Especially if you keep their coat long, you are going to want to bathe your Yorkie on a regular basis. At least once every two weeks is a good idea. When bathing your Yorkie you want to make sure that you use soap and warm water and make sure that you do not get soap in their eyes. The best idea is to use a shampoo that is specifically designed to be gentle on the eyes just in case you do accidentally get a bit in their eyes.

You always want to rinse their coat twice, even three times, to ensure that you have removed all soap residues. This is very important because soap left in your dog’s coat can result in dandruff and dry skin. Once you have taken them out of the bath you want to place them in a towel and apply light pressure all over their body, and then let them air dry the rest of the way.
Yorkshire Terrier grooming is a lot more important than you may think. Even though Yorkies are a small dog breed they require regular and thorough grooming because of the long silky coat. If your dog is simply a pet and does not compete in dog shows a Yorkshire Terrier hair cut is very appropriate. It seems a lot difficult at first than it actually is, and really, with regular bathing and brushing alone ninety percent of the chore is already done. You also want to keep their nails clipped and make sure that they get lots of regular exercise.

Yorkies are more than great pets, they are adorable and friendly companions. If you keep up with their grooming you are going to help them feel better about themselves, and in turn this will have a great affect on their confidence and self esteem. Just as you feel about yourself, when you look better you feel better, so treat your Yorkie like any other member of the family and help them to feel as good about themselves as they can.

If you find that you are unable to perform Yorkshire Terrier grooming or simply do not have the time, then you can always take them in to the veterinarian and have them get the job done for you. Yorkshire Terrier grooming tips can be incredibly helpful and the more you learn the easier time you are going to have grooming your own dog.
